About Our Troop

Chartered Organization: Hopewell Presbyterian Church,  10500 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville, NC 28078 Weekly Meetings: Tuesday, 7 PM to 9 PM  in the Scout Hut located at the Church. Council: Mecklenburg County Council District: Hornets Nest Scoutmaster: Jim Phillips - 704-545-1838  E-mail jdukephillips@aol.com Troop 42 is a very active troop with a strong emphasis on camping, leadership and advancement. The greenbar members (youth leaders of the troop) schedule a 2 night outing once a month for backpacking, rappelling or base camping, usually in a remote wilderness area.  The troop also takes a ski trip or white water rafting  trip once a year. Jim Phillips, an Eagle Scout, has served as Scoutmaster for 27 years, completed Woodbadge Training and has guided 25 Scouts to the rank of Eagle. Mr. Phillips is well respected by this alumni as well as the current members and future Eagle Scouts of Troop 42. His experience, training and dedication of the Scouting Principles provides the members of the troop with a top notch program that ranks Troop 42 second to none.
