There is a letter in the probate file from Maurice Hayes written on letterhead of the Occidental Hotel in New York City objecting to his brother Thomas being named administrator of the estate. He wrote that he did not consider his brother to be capable enough and an honest man, and that his brother had not notified him of his mother's final illness.
