Hi! My name is Mike Conner and welcome to my Land 0' Wonder, the
web site that was voted* the weirdest site of 1996.
Selected entries into past work experiences:
I used to work for Lowe's, one of the 100 best companies to work for (says so right on the job application
form). After moving to Concord from Statesville, I got a job as a computer tech. with Bannex Corp. and
thus had to endure the 1.5 hour-10 mile commute into Charlotte every day, which was greatly helped out
by the fact that I get to listen to the John Boy and Billy show on 99.7 during that time.
A few updates to my bio since I put up this page:
- Another company buy-out (yawn). I still work for basically the same company, but it was bought by
Wang, the networking company (and NO, they are not "the company that's gone bankrupt"!) and so the
name has gone from Bannex to Bannex-Wang, to Wang Global, and just recently to Getronics Wang.
I'm afraid that I'll show up for work next week and find out McDonald's has bought some interest
in our company. It's bad ENOUGH having to wear a shirt that says Wang.
- Well, it's been a while since the ol' Wonderland page was updated, but that isn't because the Y2K
bug knocked out my homepage. The reason is that for the past 6 months I've been working at the IBM
facility in Charlotte, NC, doing tech support for IBM techs who are on call at customer locations. My
current hours are 3 p.m. to midnight, which does not leave a whole lot of time at home to work on my
page, since I definitely do not surf the internet on company time. No, sir. Not me. So, I decided to
sacrifice some of my Quake 2 playing time tonight to get some pics I've been meaning to put up on this
page. They include new pics of all the upgrades I've done to my home theatre room and also some pics
of some cats I adopted since I last updated this page. I have put the cats' pics up for now and will
soon have the HT pics up as well. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I. Until next time, don't
call me with any computer problems. I have enough to handle for the time, thank you!
