A Short Bio:
Many people are curious as to how I started offering this Matrix Metering Upgrade service. Several years ago I had a 300mm f/4 AF lens that made a funny squeaking sound. One day I decided to take it apart and oil the AF gears so it wouldn't make the noise anymore. In the process of taking apart the lens I figured out how the camera communicated with the lens' electronics and determined it should be possible to upgrade expensive telephotos to meter with newer Nikon AF bodies. After buying some parts from Nikon and getting some cheap Nikkors off Ebay I was off to a good start. After spending a small fortune on Nikon repair manuals and a few years later I'm still the only tech that offers this service in the USA or the world for that matter that I know of. Why other repair shops haven't gotten in the on the "upgrade" business is a mystery to me. I guess because I offer the service at a very reasonable price that is hard to compete with.
