MATRIX METERING CHIP UPGRADE FOR NIKON MANUAL FOCUS LENSES CURRENT PRICE IS $115 PER LENS, PLUS SHIPPING AND HANDLING.
From the Legendary 200-400mm f/4 zoom lens (the tallest lens in back row) to the peculiar 28mm f/3.5 Perspective Control Lens (front row, nearest lens), a wide variety of manual focus Nikkors can be upgraded to work with Newer Nikon Cameras that don't have an aperture indexing ring such as the D100, N80, N65, etc..
Above is a close up of the actual finished product.
In the last few years Nikon has unfortunately started to make their older manual focus lenses obsolete by introducing new camera bodies like the D100, N80, N65, etc that do NOT allow the photographer to meter with the lens on the camera. Having to carry around a separate light meter takes away from the fun and spontaneity of the photographic process and can cause you to easily miss that all important shot. Many loyal Nikon fans with a collection of manual focus lenses are also disappointed that they do not work on the latest Nikon F Mount Digital camera bodies like the D100, Fuji S1, and Fuji S2. Fortunately a wide variety of lenses can be upgraded to provide all the functionality of an AF lens on these new Nikon bodies. They of course will still be manual focus lenses though. The advantage of upgrading is enormous. You will be able to use matrix metering, & matrix balanced fill flash on ALL Nikon AF bodies. Serious photographers know how time consuming determining balanced fill flash settings can be; now this can all be done automatically, while you determine the correct composition and focusing. You will also be able to see the aperture read out in the Camera's LCD viewfinder and be able to link spot metering to one of the five focusing points. In addition the aperture can now be controlled by using Nikon's sub command dial. Upgrading is also very economical. I charge $115 per lens for the upgrade. Experienced Nikon users know that there is a treasure of superb Nikon manual focus lenses out there. Take the 200mm f/4 micro and 105mm f/4 micro nikkors for example. They both can be had for less than half the price of their AF versions and they are tack sharp lenses. Anyone who has ever done micro photography knows that you must manually focus to get tack sharp images and AF is basically useless for this type of photography. However many photographers ignore these two legendary lenses because they don't allow TTL matrix balanced fill flash with newer camera bodies. Have the best of both worlds by buying these inexpensive lenses and getting them upgraded. For all the technical details on how this is done please read the FAQ (Frequently asked Questions page).
