The ABS Guiding Principles
The Atlantic Betans Society (ABS) is founded on the principles of excellence, service and education. The name Atlantic Betans simply connotes that the group originated from the Atlantic side of Continental America and primarily composed of Betans, the nickname of the resident and alumni members of the Phi Beta Epsilon Fraternity who have originated from the city of Iloilo, Philippines.
It is a Society because it aims to always raise its level of understanding and accomplishment. It elevates the level of participation, involvement and contribution to the society at large. It believes that excellence starts from within its members. Truth, justice and discipline are the principles that should be instilled amongst its members.
Excellence – The society is committed on the virtue of excellence. It believes that men should continue in the pursuit of higher standards in leadership, conduct and industry. It is only through our undying dedication, commitment and perseverance that excellence in our well-being can be achieved. The society encourages efficiency and high standards of performance and workmanship.
Service – The society believes that individuals must help themselves first so that they can better help others. They should impart their knowledge, time and resources to help our fellowmen in particular and the community in general.
Education – The society is a firm believer in the values of education. It believes that common problems of the world can be solved by knowledge and better understanding. It believes that life itself is a process of continuous education and humans should take advantage of it in their pursuit of happiness.
